Formation of (North) Cork No. 2 Brigade

A meeting is held in the house of Batt Walsh, Glashbee, Mallow to form (North) Cork No. 2 Brigade presided over by Tomás MacCurtain.

At the meeting the following officers were elected: Liam Lynch (Fermoy), Brigade Commandant; Dan Hegarty (Mallow) Vice-Commandant; Tom Barry (Glanworth) Adjutant; and George Power (Fermoy) Quartermaster.

There were seven battalions in the Brigade area as follows: Fermoy (1st), Mallow (2nd), Castletownroche (3rd), Charville (4th), Newmarket (5th), Kanturk (6th) & Millstreet (7th).  (Note: Tom Barry from Glanworth was not the same as person as Tom Barry from Rosscarbery who later became leader of the West Cork Brigade Flying Column.)
