Detail
Men
from the North Kerry and West Limerick brigades took part in the attack under
the command of Humphrey Murphy. The defense of the barracks was led
(Harnett says ably) by Sgt Coughlin and 12 constables. Harnett reports
that through-out the attack an RIC man played a melodeon and there were shouts
from the barracks calling the IRA men "rainbow chasers".
